How Trees Hold Memories, 2020

How Trees Hold Memories is a series of ten beaded tree rings made during a summer residency at Mount Saint Vincent University Art Gallery in 2019. They each tell the story of the deforestation that took place that summer behind MSVU’s main campus. Pieces of wood were taken from the deforestation site, sliced, traced, then beaded. Each piece contemplates the memory of each tree taken to make way for urban development and the impact of the student body.
